Milestone Infrastructure is currently looking to recruit a Highways Maintenance Operative to work on our Devon contract in Newton Abbot, Devon.

As a Highways Operative you will be part of our Operations team who are responsible for Working as part of the operations crew, assisting our workforce -undertaking various labouring duties including excavation works, laying and levelling of kerbs, slabs and bitumen macadam, drainage and gully installations.

**As a Highways Maintenance Operative**your duties & responsibilities will be**:

- Ensure that reasonable care is taken at all times for the health, safety and welfare of own and other persons and to comply with all local and statutory Health & Safety procedure
- Operate small plant and equipment used in highway maintenance with guidance
- Install traffic management under instruction in accordance with method statements
- Participate in Winter Services duties as required such as loading of gritters and gritting
- Completing drivers hours sheets and Defect Sheets, adhering to GB Domestic Drivers Hours Keeping the vehicles clean and tidy
- Assisting with all other weather related work e.g. Sand bag filling, salt wick filling and deploying of both as required etc.
- Assisting in all Highway Maintenance work as instructed and dependant on experience and qualifications

**Skills & Knowledge Requirements**
- CSCS Card
- Willing to work in all weathers and unsociable hours as required
- UK driving licence
- HGV Licence Class 2 and DCPC qualification
- To be able to work to respond at any time through the day / night
- Highways experience

**Additional Information**
- You must possess a high degree of manual dexterity demonstrated through the use of hand tools.
- You will be required to work outdoors in all weathers and be required to walk and stand on uneven ground.
- You must also be able to work within a confined space, without restriction.
