Programme Purchasing Buyer

**Summary**

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Programme Purchasing Buyer to take ownership of advanced manufacturing procurement and collation of core programme metrics to report to the Programme Purchasing Manager on Programme (new and current) and Purchasing status. The Programme Purchasing Buyer will collaborate with the Advanced Engineering function to ensure a seamless strategy is in place from concept development through to Series production.
- Contributing to developing the YASA prototype purchasing strategy with Advanced and Core Engineering.
- Implementing YASA change management processes to manage all technical changes throughout the programme life.
- Pro-active management of programme cost control from product conception through to series production.
- Providing regular status reports on new and current programmes to include, cost, sourcing timing, PPAP and associated risks and opportunities.
- Managing risk and opportunities trackers to drive forward resolutions to business issues and maximise value of cost reduction initiatives.
- Identification of technical and commercial cross-programme improvement areas.
- Facilitation and management of programme delivery to key milestones highlighting any risks as part of regular status reports with demonstrable plans in place to mitigate.
- To own order placement with low volume/prototype suppliers in support of development build and tracking of development costs.
- Negotiating prototype contracts, improved costs and terms of business with suppliers and reviewing opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
- Working closely with the Cost Engineering department to create and deploy programme target costs in line with business objectives.
- Coordination of the BOM costing of new business opportunities that are received as part of the sales acquisition pipeline.
- To be the voice of Purchasing through various programme meetings, including project reviews and other cross-functional forums.
- Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations.

**To succeed in this role, we believe you'll need**:

- Previous proven experience within a similar purchasing role.
- Experience working in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of automotive processes and components and supply chain management.
- Understanding of cost drivers in a manufacturing environment.
- To be results-orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work effectively with teams.
- Strong IT skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Word and the ability to present data with recommendations in a clear, concise and coherent manner.

**Though not expected, it would be very beneficial if you have**:

- Experience working within a Tier 1 / OEM Automotive environment
