**Main Purpose of the Role**:
The Sexton & Maintenance Operative will assist the Operations Manager to ensure the smooth running of the Parish Council’s services and assets by completing all tasks as listed in the Work Schedule.

**Main Duties & Responsibilities**:

- To assist with the excavation and back filling of graves and ashes plots.
- To ensure that this work is carried out in a safe manner, using such equipment as may be deemed appropriate and in accordance with the relevant Health & Safety legislation.
- To attend burial internments.
- To ensure relevant burial paperwork and records are completed and up to date.
- To direct stonemasons in the positioning, removal and replacement of memorials and to ensure that only memorials which comply with the permit are erected.
- General maintenance, care and cleaning of headstones and kerbs maintained by endowment instructions.
- To assist with location of grave queries.
- General care and cleaning of War Memorials in cemeteries.
- To maintain good relationships with clergy, funeral directors, other staff, mourners and visitors to the cemetery.
- General care and maintenance of Council land - grass cutting, hedge trimming, tree works, seasonal bedding planting, shrub maintenance, weeding, weed spraying, litter picking, emptying of bins and sweeping of paths.
- General care and maintenance of Council owned assets - minor building repairs and decoration works.
- General care and maintenance of Council equipment - all plant tools and equipment for the purpose of the job
- Ensure good housekeeping and security of all Council assets.
- To assist the Operations Manager in fulfilling the Local Maintenance Partnership agreement.
- To assist the Operations Manager in fulfilling the Highways Service Level Agreement.
- To hold a first aider and fire marshal role.
- To attend all necessary training.
- To undertake other duties appropriate to the post as required.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From £25,119.00 per year
