Overview
Based in Blackburn, a key member of the Quality control team deputising for the Technical Manager. Leading the QC team and the efficient and safe running of the Quality control laboratory, ensuring an on-going programme of continuous improvement across the site.
**Job Requirements**:
**As a Quality Control Supervisor, you will **
- Deputise for the Technical Manager as required and lead the QC laboratory ensuring effective use of resources.
- To supervise QC Assistant by monitoring and appraisal of work performance, shift cover, day to day activities, holidays, absenteeism etc.
- To ensure that Good Manufacturing & Hygiene practices are always adhered to.
- Recommend changes to the quality control procedures to improve efficiency and quality levels throughout the business.
- To ensure that all standards in the company’s HACCP and Quality Systems are adhered to and all the documentation is correctly completed.
- To ensure the efficient and safe running of the Quality control laboratory.
- To ensure all the equipment used is calibrated to schedule.
- To ensure that all QC documentation is up to date and meets the customer and regulatory needs.
- To maintain retained samples against an index so they can be retrieved in an expedient manner.
- To take responsibility to challenging the traceability procedure.
- To ensure all Non-Conforming Products are correctly identified and corrective actions implemented for its correct disposal or re processing.
- To investigate and ensure all customer complaints are logged in accordance with company policy, and that corrective actions are implemented.
- To monitor and control stock items in inspection and assigning these for re-work, shelf-life extension or disposal as appropriate.
- To lead the inspection and testing of incoming goods to ensure that these conform to specification, and to raise and investigate supplier non-conformances where necessary.
- Participate in all quality meetings such as HACCP reviews.
- Assist with all external audits such as BRC, customer and EHO.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties allocated by the Technical and Site Manager.
- To participate in internal and external training as directed.

- Strong organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Tenacious character, liaising with colleagues to obtain and chase up information required.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of GC-MS and Microbiology.
- Team player, working with a cross functional team to deliver benefits to the Business.
- Ability to work under pressure, meeting internal deadlines and the ability to problem solve.
- Well versed with the BRC food safety standard.
