**Day Rate** Working any hours Monday to Friday 6am-8pm: £10.69 paye inclusive of holiday pay

**Night and Saturday Rates** Monday to Friday working any hours between 8pm-6am: £13.89 paye inclusive of holiday pay

**Sunday and Bank Holidays**: £17.10 Paye inclusive of holiday pay

**Working Days and Hours**:

Mon - Fri 7:30 -14:00

Mon - Fri 14:00 - 20:00

Mon - Fri 17:00 - 22:00

Sat - Sun 7:30 - 14:00

Sat - Sun 14:00 - 20:00

**Job Summary**

The main function of this post is to participate in maintaining levels of cleanliness throughout a designated area within the Trust. Facilities Management services comprise of cleaning, catering, portering and some laundry services

**Duties**
- To ensure that the ward/area you are assigned to is cleaned in accordance with the work schedule for that area
- To work with your supervisor and other staff groups when the work schedule for your assigned area is to be reviewed
- Staff must prioritise their own workload whilst giving consideration to any variation in ward or departmental routine, where appropriate
- Wash and dry patients’ water jugs and glasses in accordance with agreed procedures
- Undertake specialist cleaning as required under the guidance of the Domestic Supervisor and/or Nurse in Charge
- To ensure all the cleaning materials and disposables are used economically and that only chemicals provided by the Trust are used in accordance with your training.
- To be responsible for ensuring that all the equipment and cleaning materials used are stored securely and safely in your work area.
- To ensure that whilst carrying out your duties the correct colour coded equipment is used.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment and trolleys are cleaning properly at the end of each shift and are stored in line with Cleaning Cupboard Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
- To use machinery/equipment in accordance to your training to prevent endangering yourself and others. Including;- Reporting faults
- Keeping equipment clean
- Replenishing vacuum cleaner bags as required
- Using the equipment for the purpose it was built for
- Complying with health and safety regulations by ensuring safety signs are displayed whilst working and removed once the area of work is clean and dry
- To ensure that all waste is disposed of in accordance to department protocol and Trust waste policy
- To ensure that you inform your supervisor if there are any problems which may have a detrimental effect on your ability to clean areas properly
- Work alongside new recruits

**Experience, Skills and Qualification**
- Good basic education - reading and writing plus basic numeric skills.
- Willingness to complete appropriate qualifications for Domestic cleaning and other work related training - (i.e. catering for Scarborough, Bridlington)
- An understanding of the importance of health and safety at Work & COSHH
- Able to read, write and converse in English
- Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Able to work alone and with others as part of a team using initiative
- Experience of working in cleaning industry

Ability to:

- Undertake cleaning duties involving lifting items and operating cleaning machinery, some of which is industrial standard.
- Work without immediate supervision being able to prioritise, and use own initiative
- Work in pressure situations and still maintain standards
- Undertake high quality cleaning / domestic work
- Able to work to deadlines
