**Class 1 Shunter/Yard Person**

**The position of Class 1 Shunter involves**:

- Being responsible for the cleanliness and organisation of the entire yard to include reporting/identifying any health and safety issues.
- Shunting and loading/unloading of trailers, ensuring load security, and adhering to site safety policies.
- Moving trailers to be parked in allocated areas ready for delivery.
- Using a Counterbalance Forklift to load and unload vehicles as required.
- Liaising with the Transport Office as to what vehicles are parked in the yard.
- Carry out local collections and deliveries as and when required.
- Logging of trailers in and out of the depot.
- Attending regular training sessions.

**Essential skills required for Class 1 Shunter**:

- Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
- Hold a current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
- Previous experience of shunting is advantageous.
- Counterbalance licence is preferrable, but not essential as full training can be given.
- Be passionate about providing excellent customer service.
- Working to deadlines.
- Confident, polite and a team player.
- Good geographical knowledge.
- Due to the nature of the role applicants must be fit, flexible, hardworking and self-motivated.
