This is an unusual opportunity to go higher in L&D management, but not via the conventional corporate route of managing more HR people and focusing on the high level. For 20 years the company has worked on embedding best practice approaches in terms of an overarching Performance Management Framework (IIP accredited in 2006 "the most sophisticated SME we have seen"), customer orientation, team-working, company culture,an excellence framework, advanced skills in sales, marketing, line management and so on. Now, line managers who drive L&D across their teams are stretched by the pace of growth and are short of bandwidth. We need a dedicated specialist to help them make excellent L&D happen, by giving it full-time, expert focus.

So the special thing about this position is the opportunity to focus on delivering outstanding L&D across a business committed to adopting best practice approaches, continuous improvement and achieving excellence, and - partly because of the hands-on natureof the role - to develop detailed knowhow in making this L&D excellence fully embedded and sustained in an organisation.

**The Role**

You will make training happen more intensively and consistently by finding the best training resources, developing appropriate e-delivery systems, and supporting and encouraging line managers and staff to make effective use of the resources at their disposal.This role will see you involved in structured training and coaching to help our employees achieve excellence in
- the specific skills and capabilities needed in their role
- the soft and general skills required to perform excellently You will be expected to
- absorb our training agenda - monitor L&D across the business, organise L&D activities and resources
- deliver a significant number of developmental activities personally both face to face and online, most likely in the ApplianSys soft skills area of the agenda

Your objective will be to normalise L&D at levels which are high intensity, sustained, and consistent, resulting in significant assessed employee development year on year. There will be a significant performance-related component of remuneration for achievingthis.

**What we’re looking for**

You will be an experienced, skilled, and enthusiastic training delivery practitioner who relishes a handson role in a driven, rigorous SME environment. Key to success will be being adaptable, able to fit in with the ambitious approach to company style andbeing an excellent learner to grasp the existing body of talent management knowhow, quickly understand it, teach it effectively and take it further.

Ideally you will be a training expert with significant experience in a corporate environment, fluent in working with line managers to deliver a broad range L&D programme, organising the training resources and activity, with good understanding of developingthe complex and soft skills involved in more advanced and senior roles, as well as experience organising training for junior/entry-level employees. With the requirement to quickly absorb company-specific best practice approaches and reinforce them via a significantpersonal contribution delivering tailored training, the role could also suit a teacher looking to develop their skills and expertise in a corporate environment or an Investors in People practitioner who has implemented IIP and worked with the framework totake it to a deeper level.
