Cook Supervisor, Band 4,

An opportunity as arisen at North Cumbria Integrated Care based at West Cumberland Hospital in the busy Catering Department as a Cook Supervisor.

The job entails working in a busy work environment supervising staff and working hands on within the department. The main parts of the job are adhering to all food safety regulations, allergen law and health and safety regulations. The supervisor will be responsible for opening and closing the department including the retail outlets, sorting patient menus for the regen food system, taking the food to the wards, monitoring staff, reducing waste, reporting faults and dealing with customer complaints, speaking with patients, auditing the department, menu planning, staff training completing weekly rotas and timesheets, stock analysis, staff absence management, training staff. The successful applicant must have the ability to work alone and to work effectively as part of a team. This is a large area to work in and is a physically demanding job and you will be on your feet for most of the shift and must be able to work in both hot and cold environments. The employee will also have the responsibility to follow all aspects of Food Safety, Allergen Laws and HACCP controls, this including the logging of hot and cold temperatures and that of fridges and freezers. Full flexibility is required with this role for the covering at short notice of annual leave and sickness.
