Early Support Practitioner

Overview:
London Borough of Harrow has 3 fantastic maternity cover opportunities for Early Support Practitioners. You will each take a lead role in Early Support to identify and support the needs of children, young people and their families before they require more intensive specialist interventions. This role offers the opportunity to develop the bespoke parenting offer and to work with local community groups to design, plan and offer new services.

The post holder will report into the Senior Team Manager - Early Help and will join the Early Support - Pre-natal - 19/25 years team to ensure high quality direct work takes place with babies, very young children, children, young people and their families to improve their outcomes through the provision of early support & help services.

You will be a lead worker directly with our client group and undertake universal plus key worker functions when necessary. In addition, you will have responsibility for coordinating your working pattern around service provision to meet the needs of families & the wider community.

The successful post holder will work with other staff at the hub in the provision of integrated care, health and education activities, parenting programmes, individual work, group work and in a range of targeted universal and universal plus interventions planned to ensure good outcomes for children, young people and their families.

1 x Senior EH Practitioner (G8) - cover from 05 August 2024 until August 2025 (max).

2 x Early Support Practitioner (G6) - one from 05 August 2024 until 05 August 2025, and the other from 01 November until 01 November 2025.

Interviews will take place on the 18th and 23rd July.

About you:
To be successful in this role you would need to have the below skills and experience:

- Knowledge of delivering and leading the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and key stage curricula
- Substantial experience of working directly with children, young people and families to coordinate support and achieve positive outcomes
- Knowledge of participating in the changing environment of Children’s Services, Children’s Centres, Youth Service and associated Government initiatives
- Working with children, young people and families with diverse needs, including well-being, social and health needs and leading the planning and delivery of a range of activities to meet these needs
- Analysing, as required, the needs of young people, vulnerable adults or ‘at risk’ client groups
- Have an Early Years Care and Education vocational qualification level 3 or above and commitment to study to level 4 and above or equivalent level 3 or above qualifications and experience in Social Care, Family Support, Health or Youth Work
- Proficient in the use of MS Office Tools including Outlook, Word and Excel with a willingness and aptitude to learn other IT systems, databases to proficient user level
- Ability to hold multi-agency discussions with a variety of statutory agencies, with a focus of developing a support package that can empower families to reduce statutory service involvement where appropriate.
- Ability to travel between sites to plan and provide services, including travel widely and frequently across the borough
