Purchasing Manager based in Normanton for a specialist design, assembly manufacturer with a confirmed book of £20m for the next 3 years.
Overall Purpose: Lead the Procurement and Purchasing activity with a team to support the companies development of supply chain strategies to meet the project delivery for scheduled orders.

Key Responsibilities:

- Formulate and implement relevant raw material / commodity strategies considering the Sales Forecast, known Market Conditions
- Negotiate long term agreements for NPI and Series production components
- Support the Sales and Bids team ensuring local and global strategies are followed where possible
- Lead and communicate progress of cost reduction projects
- Evaluate designs with engineering, quality and suppliers to obtain maximum efficiencies and best costs
- Collaborate with Quality and Design to implement the Design for Value process where possible
- Develop and report weekly KPI's to measure progress against corporate goals
- Develop and maintain a system to show benchmark component cost data
- Understand market trends of the Global Supply Base for specific commodities
- Control short and long term capacity management at Local Suppliers and Support Capacity management at Global Suppliers
- Lead crisis management activities
- Support the team with their purchasing activities. Supplier Management and Conflicts
- Lead a team of 3 purchasing professionals who'll manage the day to day purchasing activity
- Build and maintain supplier relationships
- Ensure all actions contribute positively to the Company's overriding objective of quality, by complying at all times with any relevant procedure that pursues this aim
- Project work and other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Experience:

- Ideally Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related field.
- 5 years' purchasing experience (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automotive, Aerospace and/or manufacturing)
- Computer literate (MS Excel)
- MRP experience require
- Good written, verbal and presentation skills
- Excellent negotiation skills
