Merseyflex Limited was formed in January 1992, its intention was to supply industry with all types of industrial hose and fittings. However, it soon became apparent that in order to offer a greater service to our customers we needed to expand our product range to include sealing products.

Being located in the centre of LIVERPOOL enables us to cover the whole of the North West with deliveries within a 24 hour period, for customers further afield we use a carrier network which also enables us to deliver goods anywhere in EUROPE the next working day. We have a fully equipped hose fitting shop from which our trained staff can wire whip, swage, weld and band any fitting into any hose, and to compliment that service we have fully calibrated test equipment to allow us to test products to our customers requirements.

The Material Controller/Buyer plays a key role within the supply chain and procurement function of Merseyflex. This person is responsible for managing and optimizing the flow of materials to ensure the timely and cost-effective production of goods or services. The role involves working with suppliers, internal departments, and other group companies to maintain an efficient supply chain.

**Responsibilities**:
Procurement:

- Identify and source materials from approved suppliers.
- Place purchase orders in accordance with production requirements and inventory levels.
- Evaluate supplier performance and initiate corrective actions when necessary.

Inventory Management:

- Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to support production schedules.

Supplier Relationship Management:

- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Collaborate with suppliers to improve lead times, pricing, and overall service levels.
- Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers in a timely and effective manner.

Cost Management:

- Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or delivery timelines.

Communication:

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, Despatch, and quality control, to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail is crucial for accurately processing purchase orders, managing records, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for interacting with vendors, team members, and other stakeholders.
- Organisational Skills: The ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines is essential in a dynamic procurement environment.
- Problem-Solving: A proactive and solution-oriented mindset is valuable in resolving procurement-related challenges and overcoming obstacles.
