Swindon, United Kingdom National Trust Full time

At the National Trust we care for an internationally significant collection of over 1 million items across 200+ properties located in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Trust has a busy programme of exhibitions, long-term and short-term loans to external exhibitions. Our collections tell the story of the people and places we look after.

We are seeking an experienced individual to take up the role and contribute to a diverse and exciting programme of exhibitions and loans. There's so much opportunity here for you to make a difference and join the lively Registrar Team.

The role is full time and offered on a one-year fixed term contract or internal secondment basis.

What it's like to work here:We’re bigger than you think, we’re more complicated than we appear and we’re larger scale than you’d imagine. We’ve got passionate people in all our teams, and we’ve got so much more we want to achieve. We’re for everyone, for ever and we really mean that.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon, however there will be an opportunity to explore and agree hybrid working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. The role will involve travel to our head office to meet with stakeholders and to carry out work.

What you'll be doing:You’ll be a key member of the Registrar Team in the Collections Management and Care Department, working across all our special places. You’ll project manage a caseload of loans to and from other institutions, private lenders and artists in order to support our places with exhibition programmes. You’ll prepare loan contracts, review key documentation and loan details, and ensure appropriate insurance is in place, supporting colleagues and make sure procedures are followed.

You’ll liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and lenders, external partners and contractors to ensure our programme runs as efficiently as possible and we meet our deadlines.

You’ll ensure we maintain excellent records and that everything is recorded accurately on the collections management system, running regular reports for senior management. You’ll be part of a supportive team, multitasking and working collaboratively to ensure we deliver excellent service and achieve our objectives, within available resources and budget.

Who we're looking forYou can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what is possible.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

- Professional knowledge and understanding of all practical elements of collection loans including contracts, transport, commercial insurance, and the Government Indemnity Scheme
- Awareness of relevant legislation, best practice and guidelines including due diligence, Spectrum and Museum Accreditation
- Experience of using collections management systems
- Demonstrable project management/coordination experience, prioritising and delivering work on time and to budget
- Ability to engage with external stakeholders and develop partnerships with ease and confidence
- Communications skills, ability to work well with others, acting with tact and diplomacy and be able to analyse issues and propose appropriate solutions

The packageThe National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
