Purpose

The Global Security Manager (GSM) is responsible for leading the firm’s global physical security strategy and delivering a proportionate approach to physical security across the business - using a holistic blend of physical security controls to ensure thefirm’s people and assets are protected from credible threats.

This global role supports the business’s key strategic objectives, and is pivotal in ensuring the continuation of organisation risk mitigation. The Global Security Manager will provide comprehensive advice, guidance and ultimately a robust framework globallyto shape the direction of strategy, policy and operational security provisions across the business and property portfolio.

As One Team, an integral part of this role is ensuring effective collaboration with operational teams to deliver global security initiatives at a local level. The GSM will develop effective relationships with Business Continuity, Information Security, Riskand project teams to deliver security initiatives at a strategic and tactical level.

Key Dimensions

Due to the nature of this global role, your workload will be split between the UK and global offices. You will predominantly work from the London office, but travelling to other locations will be required.

As UK based the role reports to the Head of UK Operations.

Key responsibilities and challenges
- Maintain the global security strategy and associated policies, processes and staff training
- Co-ordinate and manage an annual review process to maintain sight of local security compliance, reporting to risk executive groups as necessary
- Commission and manage technical security consultancy in support of large premises projects, including circa three global office projects each year
- Provide SME input as the firm’s physical security representative during the detailed design and procurement of security integrators for the firm’s new HQ building on Ropemaker Street
- Work with overseas offices and key stakeholders to provide global security advice and information as the Linklaters SME
- Encourage and empower local operational teams to support with key initiatives regarding security requirements
- Support auditing processes, both as an auditor of our key suppliers and as a recipient of auditing questionnaires
- Maintain a physical security risk register for a developing global portfolio
- Work closely with internal stakeholders (IT, Information Security, BC, Events, HR and others) to ensure that security provisions are implemented in accordance with relevant industry best practice, policy and legislation
- Oversee operational security management to ensure best practice, including specialist vendors
- Manage the delivery of intelligence and physical security threat identification, to enable proactive protection

Education / Qualification

Member of Security Institute (or similar) or willingness to join (desirable)

Languages

Good English

Practical experience
- Previous experience of corporate security management over a multi-site portfolio
- Strong knowledge of best practice security guidance and standards
- Awareness of ISO27001 and the interplay of physical security and information security
- Ability to be an ambassador for physical security, promoting security best practice and gaining buy-in at senior and junior levels
- Ability to develop and maintain Business Continuity plans, including emergency response planning
- Strong stakeholder management skills and experience in dealing with people at senior levels
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in presenting to senior leadership, and making security recommendations
- Your security sector experience is underpinned by common sense, innovation and resourcefulness.
- Experience of building a strong global network is desirable
