Press Officer

Reporting into the Senior PR Manager the Press Officer will work within the PR Department implementing activities and projects that enhance the reputation of the business and deliver consumer and trade media exposure for the TUI brand.

The role is a key part of the external communications function and will help ensure the press office is run to a high standard and that, journalists view it as a reliable, useful and credible source of information.The press officer will support in in theeffective management of the press office inbox, investigating and responding to enquiries to deadline, as well as helping drive positive proactive news and place stories in key target media.

They will also be required to be part in an ‘on-call’ rota taking calls outside of office hours, obtaining information relating to media enquiries and operational issues, and drafting relevant communications. They need the ability to work on their own initiative,be comfortable writing press statements and dealing with potentially aggressive media, as well as briefing senior spokespeople.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**
- Handle day to day press enquiries, pitch in news releases and be a driving force in the running of the press office.
- Work with internal stakeholders and the to implement PR projects and campaigns.
- Develop ideas for newsworthy press releases and sell in and distribute to appropriate media with photography and other relevant material.
- Plan and set up press, group and filming trips including pitching press trips to key media, logistics coordination and acting as brand guardian when supporting VIP trips in resort.
- Monitor and evaluate coverage and demonstrate that specific KPIs met.
- Be on call outside of office hours as part of a rota across the team and be able to respond directly to the media in a fashion that allows us to limit any damage to our brands. Understand when a situation needs escalating and make appropriate senior managersare given the right information.

**ABOUT YOU**
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Experience of working with the media
- Experience of working in a busy press office and working under pressure
- Experience of preparing various media materials including statements, Q&As, spokespeople briefings
- Ability to establish relationships with people at all levels
- Ability to work independently and manage own time to hit tight deadlines
