**Job summary**:
Local Care Direct is a non-profit Social Enterprise operating across 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to provide various primary and urgent health care services across West Yorkshire.

**We are looking for a dedicated new Part-Time Driver to work Sunday year round and alternative Saturdays during the winter period in the Craven and Bradford area driving the Duty Doctor to home visits, other premises, and for patient transport when needed.**

**Salary**: £9.11 in hours, £9.32 out of hours

**Base Locations**:

- Bradford = Local Care Direct, Westbourne Green Community Hospital, 26 Heaton Road, Bradford, BD8 8RA
- Craven = Local Care Direct, Skipton General Hospital, Keighley Road, Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 2RJ

**Shift Available year round**:
Sunday weekly 13.00-18.00 (Craven base)

**Winter Profile Shift working from 1st Dec to 31st May only**:
Saturday weeks 1&3 19.00-00.15 (Bradford base)

**PLEASE NOTE - this role is based in a patient facing clinical environment and may necessitate entry to Care Homes, therefore all Drivers are required by law to provide evidence of double vaccination for Covid-19 or medical exemption as per current government requirements**

**Main duties of the job**:
All Drivers are responsible to the Out of Hours or Duty Team Manager for driving the Duty Doctor to home visits and to other premises, and for patient transport when needed.

You will be required to drive the Duty Doctor to patient homes within Bradford/West Yorkshire area. You will support the Duty Doctor with administrative tasks and the control of drugs to enable them to perform their duties satisfactorily.

You will need a driving licence with no more than 3 points, extensive experience of driving in cities and motorways, both day and night time, together with customer service skills to enable you to work in partnership with the Duty Doctor and colleagues to provide the best standard of care to our patients.

- This job has been rated as Medium Risk for requiring Hepatitis B immunisation - vaccination is recommended, therefore Post Holders will be offered a Hep B immunisation.
- Flu jab recommended and will be offered.

**Job Purpose**:
All Drivers are responsible to the Area Manager for driving the Duty Doctor to home visits and other premises and for patient transport when needed. As this role may necessitate entering Care Homes, all Drivers are required by law to be double vaccinated for Covid 19 or to hold a clinically approved medical exemption.

**KEY PRINCIPLES**

1. Drive the Duty Doctor to home visits and other premises as directed by the Duty Controller/Team Manager.

2. Drive the vehicle in a controlled and calm manner, observing local speed limits and prevailing road conditions.

3. Collect patients from their home address and transport to their appointment, or from appointment to their home address.

4. Ensure that all procedures around the checking and safe keeping of drugs are adhered to.

5. Ensure that the protocols around the booking in and out and usage of controlled drugs are adhered to at all times.
