We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Senior Mental Health Practitioner assisting the Clinical Director aswell as managing a team of Mental Health Practitioners in the absence of the CD. Your professional background and training must be underpinned by theories of working with trauma, attachment and loss. You will have good working knowledge in working with children and young people in the Care sector with a minimum of 2 years working in a Residential & CAMHS settings. Helm Care Services provides bespoke care to young people. The post will require someone with previous experience of working in residentials and CAMHS settings, specifically within Looked After Children’s services and being familiar with consultation model as service delivery.

As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner at Helm Care Services, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing therapeutic interventions tailored to meet the specific needs of each child. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to promote positive mental health and emotional well-being, enabling children to overcome their challenges and develop healthy coping strategies.

We are currently seeking a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to cover our homes in Lancashire areas.

**About the job**:

- Conducting comprehensive assessments of children's mental health needs and formulating individualized care plans.
- To participate in the planning and delivery of evidence-based therapeutic programmes e.g. PACE, CBT, DBT and Parenting programmes on both an individual and group basis to children and young people and their families.
- To develop formulations of presenting problems or situations that integrate information from assessments within a coherent framework that draws upon mental health theory and evidence and which incorporates developmental interpersonal, societal, cultural and biological factors.
- To evaluate and make treatment decisions in collaboration internal and external clinicians and professionals about treatment options, taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family, carers or group.
- To educate and involve children and young people and family/carers, in their care/support plan and provide opportunities or service users to contribute to assessment and the development of service provision.
- Able to coordinate care plans for young people.
- Experience of improvement towards a therapy regime
- Risk Assessments, Complex Behavioural Support
- Providing therapeutic interventions, including individual and group therapy sessions, aimed at addressing emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- Collaborating with external agencies, including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
- Supporting and advising staff members on therapeutic strategies and techniques to enhance the overall well-being of children.
- Monitoring and evaluating the progress of therapeutic interventions and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of therapeutic sessions and client progress.
- Participating in team meetings, case conferences, and training opportunities to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
- To provide therapeutic training workshops to staff to promote residential workers into therapeutic residential workers.

**Entry Requirements**:

- A relevant qualification in mental health, psychology, counselling, or a related field.
- Must have experience working collaboratively with CAMHS or other mental health professionals.
- Level 5 in Management or Equivalent is desirable.
- Previous experience working with children and young people in a therapeutic or mental health setting.
- In-depth knowledge of children's mental health issues and an understanding of trauma-informed care.
- Familiarity with therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), or Play Therapy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, families, and colleagues.
