The role includes site leadership responsibilities for a team of Phlebotomists providing an inpatient and outpatient Phlebotomy service.

Pathology services at EKHUFT are within the Kent and Medway Pathology Network (South 8) and are in discussion regarding transforming Pathology services for the future.

The post-holder will promote safe & clinically appropriate Blood Transfusion practice amongst clinical colleagues in line with national & local guidelines & policies, namely BSH, NICE, PBM, BSQRs & ISO 15189.

The post-holder will be instrumental in developing & delivering Blood Transfusion training & competency assessments as required to a range of clinical staff involved in the Blood Transfusion process, as well as performing audits of practice. They will be responsible for investigating site adverse Blood Transfusion incidents & haemovigilance reporting to Serious Hazards of Transfusion (SHOT) and Medicines & Healthcare Regulatory Authority Serious Adverse Blood Reaction & Events (SABRE). The post holder will provide expert advice to colleagues on Blood Transfusion queries.

The post holder will have management responsibility for the site Phlebotomy team. They will oversee the Phlebotomy team performance & site service on a day to day basis.
