We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Buyer to work at our Doncaster site.

**Main Purpose of the Role**

To ensure optimal performance from a portfolio of tactical suppliers within a defined value stream.

This role will co-ordinate Unipart’s interface with those suppliers to ensure products and services purchased, lead to improving value and service to the Unipart Rail business and its customers.

The role has responsibility for tactical sourcing, tail spend management, supplier performance and maintaining Procurement master data.

Responsible for the management of a specific portfolio of suppliers - up to a value of approximately £5 million.

Responsible for the performance of all designated suppliers acting as a first point of escalation for operational Procurement matters.

Responsible for cost reduction activity and to manage supply chain risks in order to minimise the impact for Unipart Rail.

Responsible for the analysis and maintenance of Procurement master data.

**Qualifications and Education**
- Degree qualified, CIPS qualified (level 4/5 or equivalent).

**Experience and Proven Ability Required**

Essential
- Recognised procurement work experience with experience in sourcing and obtaining validates quotes for parts & services.
- Ability to compile, analyse, interpret and present information to senior stakeholders.
- Skilled communicator with excellent stakeholder management and effective influencing skills at senior levels.
- Experienced SAP ERP user (preferably super user).
- Strong data analytical & problem solving skills.

Desirable
- Procurement qualification (CIPS Level 4/5).
- Experience within the Rail industry (with good knowledge of the supplier market place and associated approvals).
- Experience within other Blue Chip manufacturing sectors.
- Experience of repairable management and the associated processes.
- Knowledge and experience of LEAN Manufacturing & LEAN Supply Chain principles.
- MS Office\Google experience.
- Lean and continuous improvement knowledge.

**Duties and Key Responsibilities**
- Undertake tactical sourcing and supplier engagement activity across a designated portfolio of suppliers to deliver agreed business objectives; with an emphasis on tail spend consolidation and supplier rationalisation.
- Develop and maintain cross functional interfaces to ensure internal and external customer requirements are properly identified and delivered.
- Build product and market knowledge within a defined supplier portfolio and business value stream.
- Identify and implement cost savings in line with business goals and objectives for a designated portfolio of suppliers.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of SAP master data for all suppliers within the business value stream.
- Undertake Procurement projects as specified by the Category Management team that support execution of approved Category strategies.
- Responsible for supplier performance across the portfolio, utilising standard Unipart Way tools.
- Manage and coordinate Suppliers to achieve improvement targets.
- Improve and maintain supply chain performance KPIs.
- Initiate key discussions at poor performing suppliers.
- Deploy supplier performance reviews and agree improved material replenishment systems where appropriate.
- Support the wider Procurement Operations team in ensuring that all transactional activities across the supplier portfolio are undertaken in a timely manner, including:

- Purchase requisitions.
- Price queries from suppliers.
- Invoice queries.
- Warranty claims/rejections.
- PQQs and reaccreditation.
- ECNs/CVs.
- Adhoc requirements including Code 3 orders.
- Monitor and manage specific Procurement KPIs and update reporting as required for the Procurement Operations communication cell.
- Manage/resolve escalated supplier issues at an operational first line level.
- Advocate of the Unipart Way and Tools used to deliver CI of processes and systems.
