**CONFECTIONERY ASSISTANT**

Main Purpose of Job: The Newton Dee Confectionery produces cakes, biscuits and pies for sale in our Café and Shop; The Confectionery assistant will be working with Villagers and Day Placements who have additional support needs and learning disabilities and work in the Confectionery. They will assist the team in all daily production tasks. They will carry out all Confectionery tasks and responsibilities as detailed below under the guidance of the Workshop Coordinator, and be able to show initiative and leadership when appropriate. They will be part of a team of international volunteers, villagers and day placements and support the day to day running of the workshop. They will be able to work without the supervision of the workshop co-coordinator for two days per week. They will be able to cover when the workshop co-coordinator is on holiday. They will uphold the values and ethos of a therapeutic work environment within the context of Newton Dee Camphill Community ltd.

Summary of the Role: _the Confectionery Assistant will..._
- work as a leading member of the Team, showing both initiative and leadership whilst sharing in the broad tasks and responsibilities of the workshop.
- Take an active interest in the needs of the Villagers and Day Placements in the workshop and work accordingly with the support of the Workshop Coordinator.
- Be active and responsible in ensuring a healthy, therapeutic and constructive working environment in the workshop.
- Aspire at all times to maintain an overview of the people and processes involved in the smooth running of the workshop.
- Be available to cover for the Workshop Coordinator on an on-call basis, and run the workshop in their absence.
- Be aware at all times of Newton Dee policies and procedures, paying particular attention to Fire Safety, Health and Safety, and Adult Protection policies and procedures.
- Support some of our Day Placements during their lunch hour in collaboration with other colleagues.
- Be prepared at all times to represent and stand for Newton Dee Village ethos and values towards the Service Users, other team members, day placements, the village as a whole and the general public.

Specific Responsibilities: _the Confectionery Assistant will..._
- Take and carry out accordingly any specific instructions from the Workshop Coordinator and relay these to others as appropriate.
- Take initiative to carry out any specific or general operational needs of the workshop in order to assist the Workshop Coordinator.
- Assist in the induction and training of new Co-Workers, Villagers & Day Placements.
- Assist in the ordering of supplies for the workshop.
- Take a shared responsibility for all domestic and cleaning tasks.
- Assist with customer service as required.
- Co-manage daily/weekly/monthly cleaning and hygiene operations, ensuring that these are maintained to a high standard.
- Perform any other tasks or responsibilities which may arise from time to time and are necessary to fulfil the role of Confectionery Assistant and which furthers the objectives of Newton Dee Camphill Community Ltd.
- The Confectionery Assistant:_

Reports to: the Confectionery Workshop Coordinators.

Is responsible for: Other members of the team in the Workshop Coordinator’s absence.

Hours: 9 am to 12 noon, 1 pm to 5 pm, 35 per week, Mondays to Fridays

Holiday: 33 days per annum including 12 bank holidays

Pay: £11.82 per hour
