As Public Affairs Leader, you will help us to expand and build on IKEA’s ambitious public and regulatory affairs offering in the UK and Ireland; ensuring our business is able to identify, respond, and adapt to a rapidly changing and complex policy and business landscape.

You will work with the Public Affairs Manager, and closely with the wider Communication team, together with key business leaders to deliver our public affairs agenda, helping to shape, steer and implement our strategy for influencing policy and regulation - in line with IKEA’s values, priorities, and business goals.

You should have a passion for policy and public affairs, be able to inspire and clarify when distilling complex information and create engagement and trust with colleagues and stakeholders.

Essential Requirement:

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in working with policy and regulation
- Proven advanced training in public affairs, policy, or regulatory affairs
- Strong documented leadership and influencing skills
- Experience in working with and supporting strategic business planning and strategy
- Experience with leading in change
- Experience with crisis communication and issues management
- Experience in external representation, and building trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders

What you'll be doing day to day
- Responsible for supporting the development and delivery of the market Public Affairs strategy and agenda, aligning with national and global plans and strategies
- Secure effective alignment of Public Affairs objectives to formulated business goals and stakeholder objectives for the market.
- Provide passionate advocacy and leadership on the topic of strategically relevant positive societal impact across all IKEA departments in the UK & Ireland and Ireland, engaging not only externally, but also with key internal stakeholders.
- Monitor relevant regulatory and non-regulatory developments in the market, feeding back learnings into key business functions.
- Lead and develop specific strategies for influencing relevant policy and regulation, impacting the IKEA agenda. Help to create a positive policy and regulatory environment for a transforming and growing, people and planet positive IKEA business.
- Lead and contribute to the overall positioning movement in the market, integrating into communications department and contributing to relevant 360-degree campaigns.
- Secure sufficient communications and business resources and expertise to drive Public Affairs in the market.
- Act as a strategic business partner for relevant internal stakeholders, such as Risk and Compliance, Digital, Sustainability, People & Culture, Property & Expansion
- Be a coach and sparring partner to Managers and leaders including the Country and Management Team.
- Represent country/ region in appropriate external and internal forums, conferences and meetings. so that people know what we stand for.
- Take lead in driving an open and sharing climate, being a role model of the IKEA values

What you need to know

This position is full time, you will work 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The Service Office principal location is Hybrid working a minimum of 8 days per calendar month in the office and the remainder flexibly working remotely at home.
