We'd like you to join us as a Senior Support Worker at our service Burbank Mews in Hartlepool.
Burbank Mews is a registered service for adults with learning disabilities or autism made up of 6 individual purpose built bungalows. We're committed to helping every person we support feel safe, happy, empowered enabling them to live the best life possible.
**What you'll be working**:
- Have a NVQ Level 3 or willing to work towards.
- 37.5
- Working every weekend
- Full time/Permenant
**What you'll be doing**:
- Organise the day to day running of the shift dealing with any minor employee or resident issues as they arise, such as conversations regarding first stages of managing performance issues which are then also reported to SMT.
- Able to operate unsupervised with relevant residents, taking the initiative when dealing with their issues or concerns as appropriate.
- Conduct an effective handover meeting and is able to proactively problem solve issues as they arise.
- Promotes Health & Safety best practice.
- Promotes effective and positive communication and resident activity.
- Ability to detail Resident care issues objectively, clearly and concisely in writing and participates in meetings.
- Attends visits to Doctors, GPs, Psychiatric Nurse, Social Workers and any other external body.
- Understands and is competent in handling Petty Cash including Residents personal monies.
- Competent and adheres to the procedure when checking in and out of Residents valuables e.g. Passport, Benefit book.
- Deals with external visitors to the home in the appropriate way, assessing urgency or where to direct or delegate to.
- Ensures good practice policy checks are adhered to e.g. Fire checks, hourly checks.
- Attend and contribute to management meetings regarding the running of the home and residents.
- Conduct environmental and resident risk assessments on an as required basis.
- Completes the petty cash process effectively and accurately, problem solving as required.
**What you'll have**:
- Literate and numerate with sound general education including good use of the English language. Relevant further or professional education is preferable.)
- Substantial experience in care and support of vulnerable people
- Achieved understanding of technical knowledge of the effects of brain injury on physical, cognitive and functional behaviours including anatomy and physiology of brain and behavioural, social and emotional abilities.
- Competent in effective communication skills incorporating technical knowledge and interaction with others.
- Ability to supervise a staff team dealing with people issues and asking for support where required.
- Understands the effects of rehabilitation and the basic principles of rehabilitation including the principles of supported living and slow stream rehabilitation, as well as transitional rehabilitation.
- Understands the realistic expectations of each Resident Care Package and the reasons behind the differing Care Programmes, which incorporate the aims and objectives of the individual.
- Delegates relevant tasks and activities to less experienced members of the team.
