**Introduction to Seachange**

The Budleigh Health and Wellbeing Hub opened on the site of the old hospital in March 2018. It provided a range of services such as NHS outpatient appointments, GP services, exercise classes and space for community gatherings. These were all designed to improve our community’s health, reduce isolation and loneliness and, as a result, reduce costs to the NHS

In 2021 we changed our name to _**Seachange**_. This was designed to reflect our commitment to offering support and services not just for the people of Budleigh, but for the wider East Devon community too. We are still based at the original hospital but with more services to help our community, more volunteers and a renewed enthusiasm to reduce loneliness and promote positive change.

**Overall Job Purpose**

To co-ordinate a volunteer transport service to enable people in the local WEB (Woodbury, Exmouth Budleigh) area to access activities and services coordinated by Seachange and medical appointments across the local area. It will involve co-ordination of the Seachange minibus, mobility accessible car and volunteers who drive their own vehicles.

Additionally, to develop and maintain knowledge of other transport services in the area in order to signpost people effectively to the appropriate transport service to meet their need where appropriate.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Work with the Seachange manager to maintain and develop the volunteer transport service.
- Set up, implement and regularly review transport co-ordination systems in liaison with line manager.
- Use Seachange’s Optimise transport database to record information about volunteers and beneficiaries of the transport service as well as for the overall coordination of drives.
- Manage data held about volunteers and beneficiaries of the transport service in line with general data protection regulations.
- Help support the recruitment and training of a team of volunteer drivers.
- Co-ordinate the team of volunteer drivers in order to deliver the transport service
- Provide support for and acknowledgement of the volunteer drivers and their role.
- Liaise with teams based in Seachange in the co-ordination of the service, including responding to changing needs and demands.
- Accurately record financial donations made to the Transport Service.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of other transport services in the area in order to signpost people effectively to the appropriate transport service to meet their need
- Attend Community Transport network meetings as required.
- Work as part of the team and take on duties as directed to fulfil the role of the organisation.
- Liaise with Line Manager before incurring any expenditure.
- Ensure relevant policies, procedures and good practice guidelines are followed to meet the project’s and organisation’s legal and contractual obligations.

- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner

- Knowledge of data protection legislation in reference to client and volunteer confidentiality
- Ability to prioritise and respond quickly to changing situations
- Ability to anticipate problems and provide solutions without close supervision
- Ability to work well with others (volunteers, service users, colleagues and other professionals), as well as maintaining flexibility to support colleagues
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated
- Excellent IT skills including accurate data entry skills
- Commitment to equal opportunities

**Desirable**
- Knowledge and/or experience of volunteering and voluntary organisations
- Experience of managing and supporting volunteers
- Minibus driver or prepared to undertake training to drive the minibus or mobility car
