Locum Consultant in Haemotology

Are you a NHS Consultant who is looking for a new career opportunity in the lovely Scottish Borders?

A one-year Locum Consultant in Haemotology based at this NHS trust has become available and is both an inpatient and laboratory role. You would be working for this small team and working closely with each other

The department prides itself on excellent working relationships with GPs and hospital colleagues, with easy access for consultation and outpatient waiting times in the region of two weeks.

There are four outpatient clinics which will be shared by the consultants in post.

**What does the job entail?**

You would be working for a district General Hospital with 284 beds with 87 acute medical beds.

Consultants provide level 2a Clinical Haematology together with non-malignant haematological care and clinical input into Haematology laboratory services. Within the laboratory, the Consultant Haematologist reports all marrow biopsy specimens and reports all significantly abnormal blood films which are referred by the laboratory staff.

All new consultants are welcome to join the Consultant Development Programme. It has a planned duration of 2 years (probably a protected 1/2 day every alternate month) and seeks to provide you with support for the development of leadership and management skills

**Essential Criteria**:
Primary Degree/Equivalent qualification

Full registration with GMC with a license to practice and specialist registration by date of appointment.

Fully trained Haematologist holding a CCT (or equivalent) and on the Haematology specialist register or eligible for CCT or equivalent within 6 months of the date of interview.

Wide experience in all aspects of haematology.

Completed higher specialist training in Haematology or equivalent.
