**English Literature Teacher**

**Job Type**: Part time, 15 hours per week. Fixed term contract until May 5th.

**Location**: St. Albans

**Salary**: £375 per week

**Job Purpose**

The main purpose of this job is to teach English Literature, with a special focus on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, to a group of junior students, using materials appropriate to the students and course type.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

Teaching
- Prepare lessons using appropriate materials as required to meet student needs
- Use classroom technology to enhance students’ learning experience
- Effectively manage students and their behaviour (with the support of the AMT)
- Encourage student participation through a positive and enthusiastic attitude about activities in which they are involved
- Teach morning and afternoon on May 1st, May 3rd, and May 5th (AM lessons only)
- Provide testing when/if required.
- Teach demonstration lessons for agents/potential students as arranged with the AMT

Administrative
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Keep an accurate record of student attendance and lateness
- Monitor student attendance and alert the AMT to any absences where required
- Complete student reports by the Wednesday before the end of their course and at any other times requested by the AMT
- Complete any other administrative tasks required for the effective operation of the school

Other
- Attend staff induction prior to the start of the contract
- Complete welfare and safeguarding training, and any other non-teaching training required
- Be a positive and professional role model for the students, representing the core values of OIEG
- Attend CPD sessions provided by OIEG.
- Dress appropriately for the role at all times.
- Abide by the school systems and procedures as outlined in the Teacher Manual.
- Contribute positively to the inclusive atmosphere of the school by working collaboratively with students and staff

**Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience**
- Educated to degree level - English
- Experience of working in residential summer schools for juniors
- Knowledge of seasonal, residential language programmes for juniors
- Teaching experience for at least 1 years.
