**PLEASE NOTE: A key part of this role will be to deliver employability support in a service using CBT informed therapy approaches, it is essential therefore that successful applicants possess an appropriate therapy qualification.**

Better Pathways has been granted funded by Birmingham City Council to deliver two mental projects to the citizens of Birmingham:
**MENTOR ME** is a 12-month **mental health wrap around support service** for young people aged 16 - 25. This one-year project is designed to provide young people with the mental health support they need to sustain their journey into education, training, or employment. To be eligible, young people must have significant barriers to overcome, including offending behaviours, or be looked after children or care leavers with identified mental health and wellbeing needs at the point of entry to the project. We will be working closely with project partners and **aim to mobilise by the end of April. **This projectis being funded through the Commonwealth Games Legacy Enhancement Fund (Jobs & Skills and Wellbeing stream).

**The Better Health 4 Life** project is a 3-year project designed to support adults 18+ who need help to improve and maintain their mental health and wellbeing. Participants will be provided with a blend of mental health and physical health support and mobilisation of this 3-year project, which we are delivering in partnership with Sport4Life, is underway. This project is being funded through the Birmingham City Council Prevention and Communities grants program.

Better Pathways is a mental health charity and has been providing services to the citizens of Birmingham since 1963. With a base in Digbeth and a wide network of connections and partner organisations with whom we work, our teams are an integral part of mental health service provision across the city.

Our mission is to work as part of our local health and care system to improve health and wellbeing, to tackle inequalities and to provide high quality, responsive and efficient services. This appointment reflects our commitment to doing this.

The Mental Health employment Advisor role will be pivotal to the success of the project and will work closely with the Senior Therapist and Senior Personal Mental Health Champion to deliver service quality whilst direct case holding. The successful post holder will have significant expertise delivering employment advice and support, preferably within a mental health setting / similar support service, a relevant IAG qualification and experience with caseload management. They will be working closely with clinicians who are working to provide psychological therapies to people with common mental health problems. The post holder will support service users with common mental health problems to gain, return to or retain employment. The role will involve working directly with Jobcentre Plus, employers, trade unions and employment agencies to keep people in employment and secure employment opportunities. The post holder is expected to work with between 100-120 people each year.

The service will assist targeted participants to progress their journey towards gaining, returning to, or retaining employment. The service will consist of a variety of skills-mix to ensure that individuals are offered support and advice that meets their needs.

The service will provide advice and training to potential employers on reasonable adjustments and retention of employees where necessary. This service will reduce health inequalities as employment is evidenced as a way of maintaining good health and well-being.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who will be expected to demonstrate competence and have experience working in mental health services. You will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to high quality service, good organisational skills, an ability to prioritise your workload and have good written and verbal communication skills.

You will also benefit from 30 days’ annual leave in addition to bank holidays and flexible working arrangements, although we hope that the successful post-holder will which to spend a significant portion of their time in the office, getting to know our charity, building relationships with team members and the senior leadership team.

**Salary**: £26,223.00 per year
