**Main role**:To carry out reactive, preventative and planned maintenance duties throughout the building ensuring that the premises are kept in a good standard of repair at all times. Decorating, painting of walls, woodwork etc will be an important part of the job.

**Reporting to**:The Facilities Manager and the Principal

**Starting salary**:Dependent on skills and experience (40 hours per week 07.00-16.00 or 08.00 - 17.00 Monday to Friday)

**Based at**:154 Southampton Row, London, WC1B 5JX

**Duties**:
The following list is not necessarily exhaustive:

- To perform basic electrical, plumbing, decorating, carpentry and mechanical tasks
- To assist with the moving of classroom furniture
- To carry out statutory and routine inspections including fire door inspections, fire route inspections, cleaning, fire alarm, first aid boxes, etc.
- To undertake routine and reactive cleaning tasks
- To run and connect network cables
- To perform a range of general maintenance tasks including: hanging boards, pictures, mending desks, chairs and doors, etc.
- To move furniture between classrooms when required
- To maintain accurate and up-to-date records on the progress of tasks and maintain logs and reports for routine inspections
- To be on the maintenance department’s emergency phone out of hours roster
- To report any health and safety concerns promptly to the line manager
- To undertake any reasonable task in accordance with your capabilities as directed by the Facilities Manager, Principal and Managing Director
- Polite and positive demeanor
- The ability to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English
- A positive ‘can do’ attitude and a keen eye for detail
- Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines
- Flexibility to work some evening and occasional weekend shifts
- Computer literate (MS Office essential)
- Ability to work in a team
- Reliable, flexible and hard-working
- Well-groomed and presentable appearance
- Good level of physical fitness as some light lifting will be required
- Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors

The following are not minimum requirements, but would be **advantageous**:

- Previous experience of working in a similar role
- Educated to GCSE or equivalent level
- Evidence of formal NVQ training and certification
- Knowledge of Health and Safety and safe working practices
- CSCS card holder (Construction Skills Certificate Scheme)
