MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken may include any of the following which may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Practice Manager: Checking and summarising clinical notes for newly registered patients Data entry including immunisation, cytology, bowel screening data onto EMIS Requesting and deducting patient records Coding incoming daily patient documentation in line with practice procedure, being aware of QOF requirements and ensuring that patient clinical data relating to diagnoses, test results and surgical procedures is accurately coded to patient records. To record sensitive information accurately on patient records To work with other administrators and healthcare professionals to provide an excellent service to our patients. To action, update and manage personal and team tasks To help train other members of the team on coding To ensure that strict confidentiality protocols are adhered to. To attend training sessions on behalf of the practice as required.

To comply with health & safety procedures and report any areas of concern to the Practice Coordinator. To undertake any other duties as may be determined from time to time to ensure the efficient running of the practice. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately In the performance of the duties outlined in this job description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcare workers.

They may also have access to information relating to the practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data Performance Standards: Confidentiality to be maintained at all times. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally, thus displaying a competent and professional image of the Practice. Confident and polite manner.

All members of staff should be prepared to take on additional duties or relinquish existing duties in order to maintain the efficient running of the Practice.
