SENIOR TAXATION SPECIALIST (JOB NUMBER: 20881)

**The Team**

The Fund Accounting Department comprises a number of different functions in the administration of UK Investment Trusts, UK Open-Ended Investment Companies, Unit Trusts and UK-administered SICAVs.

The Taxation Team exists within the Fund Accounting Department to provide taxation services to clients with support being provided in the following areas:

- Direct liaison with clients, internal and external stakeholders (inclusive of HM Revenue & Customs) in the provision of taxation services
- Financial statement taxation disclosures as required by SORP and UK GAAP
- Resolution of technical exceptions and leading client interaction in respect of Withholding Tax reconciliations between Custody and Fund Accounting
- European investor tax reporting
- Management of 3rd party tax agents

**The Role**

Ensuring that all taxation deliverables are produced and dispatched on time in accordance with client service level agreements and agreed quality standards. Responsible for managing risk and compliance within the team; driving tax-technical development of staff and related enhancement of processes. Looking after data protection, security and risk management.

**The Responsibilities**

**Compliance and Risk Management**
- Assist the Principal Tax Specialist to maintain policies, manage internal / external audits, and work collaboratively with the key stakeholders in the organisation
- Assist the team with tax-technical development and regulatory change management activities
- Assist in dealing with tax technical queries from clients / auditors / internal stakeholders
- Monitor and communicate legislative updates to the team
- Supporting responses to regulatory requests in collaboration with Operational Risk and Control teams, ensuring timely and accurate communication and strong working relationships Work with the Principal Tax Specialist to develop a strategic approach to risk and compliance across the department
- Proactively review team processes to drive continuous improvement and efficiencies while also mitigating risks
- Develop a strong understanding of the obligations and service standards required under the client service level agreements and ensure appropriate protection of BNPP’s and clients’ interests
- Assist the Principal Tax Specialist in the periodic update of client service level agreements to ensure the service offered is accurately and appropriately reflect and to suitably protect the parties’ interests
- Ensure that procedures and checklists are in place and maintained on an appropriate basis
- Working with the Principal Tax Specialist to ensure complete, accurate and timely error reporting ensuring preventative actions are suitably implemented
- Work with the Principal Tax Specialist to identify training needs, and to develop and support training initiatives within the Tax team as required

**Tax Services**

Tax advisory or compliance experience is essential. Though beneficial, it is not a requirement to have Financial Services tax experience; training and support will be given
- Oversee the work of Tax Specialists, providing coaching and technical guidance as part of the overall review process
- Review CT600s and VAT returns for submission to HM Revenue & Customs
- Review taxation calculations and payment instructions
- Review and control the identification and classification of tax-impacting securities held by funds, e.g. offshore funds, limited partnerships, real estate investment trusts Review and manage deliverables and 3rd party relationships for investor tax reporting
- Support delivery and resolution of queries relating to withholding tax reconciliations with Custody and Income teams
- Manage the day-to-day taxation deliveries for the team
- Understanding how technical developments and legislative changes impact the service provided and working with the Tax team to ensure appropriate action
- Work with management team in conducting training across the UK and any outsourced locations where required.

**Management of Service Delivery**
- Responsible for ensuring tax affairs within the scope of the service of Investment Trusts, Open Ended Investment Companies and Unit Trusts are maintained to the highest standards of accuracy
- Responsible for ensuring all client KPIs and service delivery commitments are being met in accordance with client service level agreemen
