**The Company**
Nigel Wright Supply Chain and Procurement Team are delighted to be working exclusively with a well respected bespoke Manufacturer to recruit a Purchasing Manager.
**The Opportunity**
Reporting into Director level, the Purchasing Manager will be wholly responsible for Direct Materials and Component Purchasing across multiple sites, managing a small team.Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and mentoring the Purchasing Team
- Ensuring continuity of supply at the optimal cost, exact specifications, required quality and to deadline
- Both tactical and strategic commodity management of a broad portfolio of raw materials and mechanical components
- Implementation of Purchasing Best Practice, identifying opportunities for improvements and efficiencies
- Implementation ofa formal supplier relationship management/development programme including KPIs (UK, Europe and Far East) and Contracts Register
- Ongoing market research/engagement to assess availability of potential new supplier partners/contingency supply where feasible
- Close collaboration with/supporting internal Teams including Supply Chain/Warehousing, Engineering, Design, Operations and Finance - acting as the Purchasing central point of contact
- Partnering with IT to provide greater visibility of Supplier performance against KPIs, reporting upon performance against QCD etc
- Future opportunity to centralise Indirect spend
- Maintaining data integrity upon ERP system
**About You**
- A proven track record within Purchasing at a Management or Team Lead level from within manual assembly manufacturing
- Accustomed to working within SME fulfilling both a hands-on and strategic remit
- Experience of têxtiles and/or Furniture/soft furnishings and inherent Sector challenges and complexities beneficial
- Internal/external stakeholder engagement and supplier relationship management and development paramount
- Confident, robust and resilient - able to represent Purchasing both internally and externally with integrity
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- strong communicator - able to build relationships swiftly with ease and to collaborate cross functionally with multiple Departments
- Forward thinking, dynamic with a strong appreciation of process and Purchasing best practice - confident to challenge in pursuit of improving process, efficiencies and securing commercial advantage
- Detailed with strong analytical and Excel proficiency
- Passionate about quality and focused upon delivering excellent customer service
- Strong team management and mentoring skills
- Diligent and committed
