Despatch Operative

We produce bread and bakery products created with Hovis goodness at the heart of each. We deliver around 1.3million loaves, every day of the week throughout the UK and Ireland, where we also make Mothers Pride and Ormo products.

We are 2,800 people working within 8 bakeries, 1 flour mill, and 2 regional distribution centres across the UK. **KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To deliver an efficient operation in line with the site plan and key business performance indicators.
- Comply with company and legal standards (safety, hygiene, and environment).
- Lead continuous improvement activity in the team’s delivery of quality, value, safety, hygiene, environment and customer service.

**JOB ROLE**
- Encourage teamwork and a supporting environment in order to improve business performance.
- Always comply with all applicable corporate and legal standards (personal safety, food safety, quality, hygiene and environment).
- Ensure you deliver to target on a shift and weekly basis.
- Understand the IT systems in use.
- Work with FLM to ensure continuous improvement to make year on year improvements versus plans and targets.
- Work with FLM to ensure accurate performance reporting for all measures required (site targets, KPI’s, team performance, etc).
- Monitor staff progress, check flow of products and report any problems/issues to the FLM.
- Inform the FLM of any adjustments, ensuring that any action that needs to be taken is authorised by the FLM
- Random spreading checks, investigate any spreading errors, ensuring standards of work are acceptable and that products are assembled in the baskets correctly
- Ensure proper housekeeping throughout the shift, ensuring that the areas are always left clean.
- To be an active member of the distribution team.
- Work with other Pre-Despatchers and FLMs on site to ensure shared responsibility for delivering all KPIs and targets.

**KNOWLEDGE & SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS**

**Essential**
- Basic numeracy and literacy essential to the job.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- A good sense of the importance of good customer service.
- Knowledge and experience of short shelf life products and daily delivery operations.
- Relevant industry experience.
- IT literate.
