Patchway, United Kingdom South Gloucestershire Council Full time

**How you'll make a difference**:
***
- You will help make a difference by being a listening ear, advocate for young people and engage them in a way that they feel supported by building relationships with a young person and their family, listening to them and understanding what life is like for them. If they feel they do not have a voice you can help them to express it. Often, it’s hard for young people to be able to talk things through and sometimes, hard for adults to know how to listen and how to react.**What will you be doing?**

- You will engage young people and families in direct sessions that you will plan. These will be creative, fun, educational and will make a difference. These sessions may be designed to help young people with various issues such as low mood, school exclusion, issues around exploitation, helping to rebuild relationships at home, helping young people socially or to recognise social pressures and build resilient factors to lessen the risks.
- You will help to build a team around the family so support mechanisms can be constructed around the young person and available after you step back.
- You will work alongside a small but fantastic team of dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic staff who will help you to support the young people and families you’re working with.
- You will sit alongside the Youth Offending Team and as such, will be able to access various supportive colleagues with different areas of expertise and backgrounds.

**What we need from you**:
***
- You will have considerable experience of working in similar service areas, with customers who have complex needs.
- You will demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice; processes and procedures; support mechanisms and specialist equipment.
- You will be able to work under pressure with difficult/sensitive topics and remain resilient.
- You will be a good team player that can both seek support and give support to colleagues.

Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
