**The Opportunity**
A Damage Claims Handler will process vehicle damage claims effectively and efficiently, liaising between our customers and suppliers to ensure claims are processed within our agreed SLA’s.
They will look to resolve any queries and disputes on damage claims by assessing against industry standards and agreed SLAs with both customers and suppliers.
This role engages and builds relationships with many internal other departments such as Finance, Supply Chain and Accounts Management departments.
**Key Tasks**
- Updating and processing damage cases on our in house systems. This includes ensuring Damage Packs meet the required standards as set out within BVRLA guidance and agreed SLA’s.
- Liasing with suppliers to obtain all required documentation.
- Liasing with customers to share notifications, Full Damage Packs and invoices.
- Processing of both purchase and sales invoices.
- Resolve customer queries and disputes, using attention to detail.
- Negotiate with suppliers where required on disputed claims and costs.
- Identify high risk claims and escalate these to DS Management Team or internal stakeholders.
- Identify and develop procedural improvements that drive efficiencies or increased customer and supplier satisfaction.
- Assist the department in reducing damage debt by ensuring claims presented are valid.
- Assisting the Finance Team to reconcile and assist with statement queries.
**About You**
- Fantastic attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
- Ability to assess evidence presented, and ability to relay this information to a wide variety of customers.
- Excellent negotiation skills, ability to persuade others to see the completion of a claim through to payment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally.
- Good rapport builder, gaining trust & respect from all stakeholders involved in the damage chain.
- Motivated to achieve personal and departmental KPI’s and monthly objectives.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Essential requirements
- Experience of working to successfully working to targets.
- Confident user of IT systems, including MS officer and transferable skills for bespoke IT systems.
- Demonstration of flexibility and adaptability to support colleagues across the operation.
- Previous experience in negotiating costs or claim handling.
Desirable
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
- Vehicle type knowledge
- Experience of the automotive / rental sector
