**Salary**: £22,064 - £23,682 (SCP 17 - SCP 20)

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
The primary focus is support delivery within the Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning Team to assist with the effective deliver of high-quality youth work initiatives to our young people. Our youth work initiatives include a range of educational and vocational programmes to ensure our young people have an inclusive learning journey during their time at Rossie. There is also a requirement to ensure collaborative working with care, health and specialist staff to ensure holistic delivery for outcomes for young people

**In conjunction with education colleagues, support the delivery of educational, training and vocational programmes for young people**:

- Develop an understanding of the interests, strengths, needs and vulnerabilities of our young people to ensure a holistic, collaborative and therapeutic approach to learning for all our young people.
- Support the education team in developing and delivering targeted interventions (based on nurture principles) for all young people.
- Proactively assist with the planning and review processes for individual young people, and for the Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning team.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people through individual and small group working.
- Support and assist with the delivery of relevant programmes and activities with groups of young people as part of their planned learning programme.
- Establish activities which will promote the personal, social, educational and material welfare of our young people.

**Support the planning, risk assessment and organisation of appropriate programmes and activities**:

- Support and assist with the safe planning of activities which allow young people to undertake specific learning initiatives which will be relevant to their interests.
- Work collaboratively to ensure all activities are risk assessed and take account of the specific vulnerabilities of individual young people.
- Ensure intended outcomes and success criteria are communicated clearly, that sessions begin and end as scheduled, and that resources are appropriate, available, and safely managed.
- Work collaboratively with team members and young people to ensure progress is consistently made, and in line with intended activity plans.

**Create, procure, or obtain resources to facilitate working with young people during their learning journey**:

- In planning work for young people, ensure that the necessary resources are available at the time that they are required by young people.
- Ensure a proactive awareness of budgeting constraints and adhere to financial requirements.

**Support young people to achieve accredited youth awards**:

- In collaboration with education colleagues, promote and organise events for young people inclusive of participation in the Forest School.
- Work closely with relevant external bodies to raise awareness and support delivery of accredit awards.
- Proactive involvement of our young people in evaluating work carried out.

**Monitor and evaluate on all activities and programmes delivered**:

- Support the collation of data to assist with evaluation of accredited programmes of work
- Collate information re young people’s education journeys to ensure dissemination with educational and other colleagues as well as parents/careers as required.

**Other associated tasks**:

- Support young people to represent their views
- Attend relevant organisational and young people meetings as required.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**:
**Qualifications (Essential)**:

- Educated to SCQF Level 7 in relevant field.

**Qualifications (Desirable)**:

- ASN qualification
- Wider achievement awards (ASDAN, Princess Trust, Youth Achievement Award, The Duke of Edinburgh)
- CALM (Crisis, Aggression and Limitation Management) training

**Skills (Essential)**:

- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of team
- Excellent organisational skills, ability to prioritise work load and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills
- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters

**Experience (Essential)**:

- Working with young people in an education or similar background
- Working with young people in group settings

**Experience (Desirable)**:

- Working with young people in an ASN environment
- Community based learning
- Supporting successful bids for external funding

**Knowledge Base (Essential)**:

- Awareness of strategies to support young people with a range of additional and complex support needs
