Northern Medical Ultrasound Ltd is a local company set up to provide high quality ultrasound staff to the NHS in the North of England with a large number of experienced, high quality local staff to provide an exceptional and personal service.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the booking office based in Barnoldswick, Lancashire to support the management of Ultrasound appointments. The post holder will be responsible for providing an efficient and high quality service of care to patients and play a vital role in our administration team. The schedule for this job is on a rota basis eg. **Week 1** Monday - Friday 10am-6pm **Week 2** Tuesday - Friday 9:30am-6pm Saturday 8am-1:30pm. Total hours - 37.5.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Appointment Booking Clerk
- To take full responsibility for organising, co-ordinating and booking patient appointments within the booking team, which covers a number of GP Surgeries and areas across Yorkshire and Greater Manchester.
- Working closely with the relevant teams, to ensure a prompt caring and professional service is provided at all times.
- Acting as the central point of contact for patients and service users who may be emotionally distressed and anxious, handling enquiries and calls with maturity, sensitivity, sound judgment and empathy.
- Ensuring that colleagues within the Booking team are informed of any relevant issues that may require immediate or urgent attention.
- This position involves being on the phone, booking appointments and dealing with queries for 90% of the time.

Principal Accountabilities:

- Deal with the day-to-day administration of new and follow up patient appointments by accurately recording appointments on Compucare or other database systems as directed.
- Liaise with staff, Health Care Assistants and Sonographers to ensure the smooth running of appointment sessions.
- Answer all telephone calls to the service in a responsive and professional manner, ensuring enquiries are dealt with quickly and efficiently.
- Alert team members or managers immediately to any issues requiring immediate attention in relation to patient/service user appointments.
- Promptly record patient activity on to Compucare or other relevant databases.

Policy and guidance
- Carry out other routine clerical tasks as directed to support the smooth running of the service.
- Follow Northern Medical Ultrasound’s policies for information governance, ensuring handling confidential data and information professionally.
- Work as part of team with colleagues and cover absences where needed.

**Mandatory Training**
