About us

The Department of Informatics is looking to appoint a Research Associate to work in the area of cryptography.

The Department of Informatics is a cutting-edge place to study and research the field of computer science and the technologies that are transforming our lives today and tomorrow. We aim to consider fundamental scientific questions as well as respond to key societal challenges and opportunities in an increasingly complex digital world.

About the role

In brief, ethnography is a social science method involving prolonged fieldwork, i.e. staying with the group under study, to observe not only what they say but also what their social reality and practice is. In this project, we are putting cryptography at the mercy of ethnographic findings, allowing them to shape what we model.

Applicants should have already completed, or be close to completing, a PhD in a relevant discipline. Applicants should have an outstanding research track record in cryptography. Applicants should be able to demonstrate scientific creativity, research independence, and the ability to communicate their ideas effectively in written and verbal form.

This is a full time post, and you will be offered an a fixed term contract until the 25th October 2026.
