National Grid are on the race to support Net Zero and we are investing heavily in our interconnectors in order to achieve this.

Interconnectors are high voltage cables that are used to connect the electricity systems of neighbouring countries. They allow us to trade excess power, such as renewable energy created by the sun, wind and water, between different countries. To support the incredible work our team do, we are looking for a SHEQ Advisor to maintain a robust safety, health, environment, security and quality (SHESQ) management system to support safe delivery of work across core business and project activities. Maintain SHESQ frameworks across the business to drive consistency and demonstration of the right behaviors to continuously improve performance.

**Key activities**:

- To develop and maintain a robust SHEQ management system for New Interconnectors to support safe delivery of work across core business and project environments
- Provide SHEQ support for new business development initiatives
- Develop, implement and drive a focused SHEQ assurance programme, independent of project delivery, that targets areas of Improvement
- Maintain SHEQ frameworks across New Interconnectors to drive consistency and demonstration of the right behaviours to continuously improve performance
- Monitor and report on SHEQ performance, analysing results and developing SHEQ initiatives to improve and sustain world class results
- Carry out inspections and audits based on risk prioritisation
- Carry out investigations as required to find root causes and implement corrective and preventive action

**About you**:

- Experience within SHEQ with associated demonstrable levels of knowledge, skills and experience
- Experience of delivering SHEQ strategies
- Knowledge of safety legislation and National Grid safety related expectations, standards and behaviour
- Experience of delivering independent risk-based assurance programmes
- Experience of working with a range of people on SHEQ actives
