- The role of a seasonal Platform Supervisor is to cover the Station Master during his absence. This will include supporting requirements of the team to ensure the safe and efficient running of the railway platform, assisting passengers on and off the train, providing effective communication to maximise the visitor experience. To include keeping records using both SR04 and FuturERS, managing Roster changes, and being the point of contact for all staff in the zoo. The post holder will assist the Station Master with Job Interviews, Setting up events and welfare provision.**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Cleaning duties such as Railway Carriages, platform, shop and queuing areas and the Railway crossing
- Platform duties include collecting passenger tokens, assisting with disabled passengers, communicating with other platform staff, presenters and footplate crew, safety checks and dealing with emergencies
- Gate duties include opening gates for incoming traings, signalling to the train driver and ensuring safe practice at all times
- To manage and report any incidents to Zoo Duty officer
- To obtain and record passenger numbers and revenue on a daily basis as required
- To be the main point of contact in the absence of the Station Master
- To make Roster Changes as required

**Person Specification**:

- To have in depth experience of operating in a heritage railway environment
- To have full knowledge of the process when running the Station.
- When dealing with internal personnel at all levels, the post holder must use tact, diplomacy and promote a high level of customer care and with all staff, visitors and guests on the ZSL Whipsnade Zoo site
- To be able to make decisions quickly and efficiently to keep the railway running
- Hold a full driving licence
