Machining Apprentice

You will use your existing mathematical, English and technical knowledge as a foundation to build and develop skills critical to becoming a well-trained, experienced and key member of our Manchester manufacturing team. As an NOV Apprentice, you will develop a strong understanding of manufacturing processes including CNC Turning, CNC Milling, CNC Programming and additional technical assembly skills.

During your apprenticeship, you will cover the following:

- Manual Machining practical activities will be studied for a total of 12 weeks. Here you will gain a good understanding, and develop a basic grounding in the preparation and use of; Various manual machines of all types including lathes, milling machines, drilling, grinding & jig boring. A range of assessments, observations and interviews will be carried out and must be passed during this time to prove the apprentice’s competency on this topic.

**Year 2 **:During year 2 the apprentice will undergo 2 x 6 month rotations which are fitting (either industrial pump or mixer) and 6 months operating manual machinery. This will give the apprentices a good grounding of machining techniques which they can then take forward into years 3 & 4 where they will undertake training on CNC machining.

**Year 3**:Year 3 is back into 3 monthly stints. These are industrial pump assembly, mixer assembly and the operation of 2x CNC machines from a choice of operating systems manufacturing a range of components. At the end of year 3 we would expect the apprentice to be working with no supervision in these 4 areas.

**Year Four**:Here the apprentice will finalize their skillset, learning 2 more CNC machines as well as becoming an expert in either pump or mixer assembly. Graduate as a fully trained and multi skilled NOV employee.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:Maths & English at a minimum of Level 4 (or equivalent)
