**Highways Inspector**

**Working Pattern: 37 hrs per week - Monday to Friday**

**Location: Bilsthorpe, Sutton in Ashfield and Blyth Nottinghamshire**

We are looking for a Highways Inspectors to join our expanding Highways Inspections Team. The team carries out inspections across Nottinghamshire's highways to maintain a safe passage for all highway users both immediately and in the long term.

**The Job**

Key areas of responsibility will include:
- To carry out highway inspections and be able to order repairs when needed.
- To be accurate and consistent when undertaking inspections while following approved guidance.
- To manage your own time efficiently on a daily and monthly basis, planning your own workload and adapting to changing priorities.
- Be able to organise the delivery of emergency surfacing works due to incidents on the highway.
- Be able to communicate with our customers including members of the general public, parish/town councillors, colleagues and key internal stakeholders.
- Be able to represent Via and the Highways Authority using your current experience and knowledge gained within the role.

**The Person**

Mainly you will be excited to be out on the highway, but there are just a few other things we’d like from you:

- Previous knowledge of the construction or highway industry
- Good communication skills with the ability to adapt to different customers.
- Ability to work both independently and within a small team.
- Enjoy undertaking inspections both on foot and in a van (you will be outside rain or shine)
- Ability to interpret policy guidelines and adapt to the relevant situation.
- Basic IT skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
