Are you ready for an exciting opportunity to join our ambitious company at the forefront of driving innovation in food packaging? We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technology Officer specialising in food or food packaging, to be a key player in our mission to extend shelf-life and reduce food waste, whilst ensuring the highest levels of food safety. In this role, you will have the chance to lead projects, conduct cutting-edge R&D, and help grow the business with the opportunity to develop into a CTO position. **Roles & Responsibilities**

Technical & Commercial Support:

- Collaborating with the management team to develop and execute the company’s product technology strategy aligned with the overall business objectives and mission.
- Become the company’s lead product expert, share insights and recommendations with the leadership team to shape the company's long-term product technology roadmap.
- Develop and manage the product technology infrastructure, ensuring the maintenance and management of all product IP and regulatory requirements.
- Engage directly with customers, immersing yourself in their requirements, overcoming challenges and supporting the onboarding of new customers.
- Define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with cross-functional teams, executing project plans, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Innovate UK ownership of progress monitoring, issue resolution in addition to organisation and reporting of monthly project consortium meetings.
- Management of project and product Risk Register ensuring regulatory compliance, identifying all risks, ownership, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate closely with our enthusiastic sales and marketing team to develop compelling, customer-focused communication materials, and provide internal guidance on technology and terminology.
- Build and maintain relationships with external support and vendors including, regulatory authorities (FSA), test laboratories, developing long-term partnerships.

Research & Development:

- Embark on groundbreaking research initiatives concerning microbial growth, spoilage, and contamination relevant to food waste and shelf-life extension.
- Evaluate and recommend revolutionary packaging materials and technologies, to work alongside our technology, pushing the boundaries of food safety and shelf-life extension.
- Conduct comprehensive testing on raw materials, finished products, and samples, ensuring the highest levels of safety and ensuring product achieves desired results.
- Skilfully interpret test results, promptly identifying potential risks, and proposing effective corrective actions.
- Uphold rigorous compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality control procedures, establishing our reputation for excellence.
- Champion a culture of innovation, leading quarterly market intelligence reports enabling OSY to stay at the forefront of the latest advancements in food packaging, microbiology research, emerging technologies, and market trends, driving continuous improvement to provide a competitive edge.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in microbiology, Food Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in product development, technology research, or related roles within the food industry, preferably food packaging.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, within UK, EU with familiarity with various testing methods.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Outstanding analytical skills and unwavering diligence, ensuring the highest level of accuracy and reliability.
- Effective communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex technological concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with a proven ability to work effectively in a team, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
