Vehicle and Plant Fitter

Reporting to the Depot Manager, you'll be pivotal in the maintenance, inspection, repair, and testing of our expanding fleet of HGVs, vans and plant & equipment.

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintain, inspect, repair, and test GCU's plant and equipment, demonstrating expertise in fault diagnosis.
- Conduct safety inspections on HGV vehicles according to DVSA inspection manual standards.
- Diagnose faults in complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Prepare vehicles for periodic and annual inspections.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and accidents, delivering necessary repairs.
- Ensure adherence to legislation and Health and Safety procedures.

Skills and Experience Required:

- Time served (City and Guilds) or equivalent, ideally possessing an IRTEC Commercial Inspection Qualification.
- HGV licence category C minimum preferred.
- Previous experience in a relevant Fitter/Technician role.
- Proficient in workshop health and safety practices.
- Ability to work on your own, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with computer proficiency for record-keeping.
