At MIB our people are passionate about making roads safer by getting uninsured and hit-and-run drivers off our roads. Working in partnership with the Police, Insurers and Government our collective aim is to make it a thing of the past but, until that’s accomplished, we’re here to compensate victims quickly, fairly and compassionately.

Last year we helped more than 42,000 people struck by uninsured and hit-and-run drivers and paid over £400 million in compensation to support victims rebuild their lives.

Our work and impact stretch further too. We manage services for the insurance industry and government to help keep costs down for UK motorists, and we manage the Insurance Fraud Bureau, which brings together insurers, partners and law-enforcement agencies in the fight against fraud.

Our Head of Information Security role enables MIB to operate securely by ensuring effective technologies and controls are in place to adequately identify and address Information Security risks across all MIB and its’ client’s systems. This role will constructively engage the organisation and its stakeholders in order that the importance and value of Information Security is communicated in a language the business understands, is consistently understood, and considered in all aspects of its operation.

Key Outputs
- Implement an appropriate Information Security governance structure, supported by clear policies, standards, and procedures.
- Ensure active ownership of Information Security policies, validating that they are regularly reviewed and consistently understood.
- Working with Head of Technology Strategy and Innovation, ensure the Information Security strategy is clearly defined, published, maintained and accurately reflected in the Technology and Change roadmap.
- Promote and oversee safeguarding of data and systems through the lifecycle of all change initiatives.
- Provide regular, accurate reporting on the status of the Information Security landscape, highlighting emerging threats and associated risks.
- Hold peers and stakeholders accountable for ensuring Information Security is involved and Security requirements are considered by all projects and new / renewed contracts with third parties.
- Build and maintain a diverse, high-performing Information Security team, fostering a culture of business enablement, customer centricity and continuous improvement.
- Ensure education for all stakeholders, building knowledge and understanding of why Information Security is vital to MIB and driving appropriate priorities and behaviours.
- Build productive, proactive relationships with security professionals across the technology and insurance industry. Actively participate in information-sharing communities.
- Keep abreast of emerging technology and business trends. Outline options and recommendations to inform decision making where required.
- Coach and mentor Technology and Change staff, support education of wider MIB and stakeholder community.

Qualifications and Education

Skills and Knowledge
- Proven record of management of IT Security on a large scale across a range of information systems.
- Experience of managing both internal and outsourced providers.
- Professional security management certification.
- Exceptional understanding of and experience with a variety of industry frameworks and standards (e.g. NIST Cyber Security Framework and/or UK Cyber Essentials Scheme, Data Protection, GDPR and ISO27001 standards, COBIT).
- Effective, engaging communicator with proven ability to articulate complex security and technical concepts simply to a broad audience.
- Successful record of stakeholder and relationship management, able to influence diverse stakeholder groups.
- Commercial awareness, understanding of contracts and vendor management.
- Experience of managing significant financial budgets.
- Experience of building and maintaining diverse, high-performing teams.
- Proven ability to motivate, coach and inspire colleagues.
- Excellent governance, risk and regulatory awareness.

Salary circa £130,000 per annum depending on experience
35 hours per week
