- We are recruiting for two trainees to join the Wigan Greenheart project team.**Wigan Greenheart Landscape Recovery** is a transformative partnership project** **that will deliver major innovative action and is receiving national recognition. It is an exciting opportunity to make a long-term step-change to the wildlife of Wigan by creating, expanding and improving habitats and connecting them across the landscape to achieve the recovery of threatened species. The scheme will be an exemplar of how to extend multi-benefit, natural capital approaches to demonstrate how the post-industrial landscape can be re-imagined and how nature can be restored at landscape-scale.

Trainees will work through a structured development programme to impart skills and experience with people and nature, consisting of diverse and varied activities, offering a unique opportunity. Trainees will get the chance to learn about the habitats and species of the post-industrial landscape of Wigan, nature-based solutions for climate resilience, nature recovery, access approaches and organising and running engagement events to encourage involvement with nature across the scheme area. They will also support the project team with communications activities and be able to network with a wide range of individuals and organisations.

The successful applicant will be passionate and enthusiastic about both nature and people’s contact with nature, and who have a willingness to learn.
