We have an exciting opportunity for an RMN to join our Eating Disorders Day Programme Service for young people and their families based in the London’s Kensington & Chelsea.

The Day Programme is a small service open Monday - Friday and provides enhanced care in the community following specialist inpatient treatment and step-up care from the community for young people with eating disorders and complex physical and psychiatric co-morbidity. The service provides a time limited programme of interventions delivered by a multidisciplinary team.

This is a new service and we have recruited to all the posts in the team. The RMN and nursing team will hold responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of nursing input to children and young people, provide support to their families and advice and consultation on their care to colleagues and the professional network.

We are looking for a RMN who is either interested in or has experience of working with eating disorders and who is motivated, flexible and has the right attitude to help nurture this new team to deliver the best quality care experience for children and their families. You will work alongside the wider and experienced Eating Disorders team who will support your supervision and development.

The post holder will deliver outstanding care following Trust Values and help to promote independence and dignity and positively enhance the lives of the young people and their families attending the Day Programme.

You will work as a member of the nursing team to provide a lead nursing role and input into referral management, assessments, risk management, MDT decisions and care planning at the service.

You will provide mental health and basic physical health nursing interventions and support group therapy sessions. You will learn how to help practically, supervising mealtimes with families, offering psychoeducation around food, eating disorders and managing emotions.

You will facilitate/ co-facilitate groups for young people or their family members.

You will you will be responsible for a small caseload of patients while they are at the day programme.

You will develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with young people and their families/carers.

You will work collaboratively with system partners, building relationships with external services and ensuring timely and accurate communication.

You may be required to provide supervision and appraisal of staff

You willmeet regularly with your manager for professional and managerial supervision.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. CLINICAL ROLES
- To liaise with the Multidisciplinary Team at the CYP Eating Disorder Service and other

stakeholders involved in patient care, to facilitate the smooth transition of care for patients
across the service
- To take a lead role in the nursing assessment of all referrals to the day programme
- To collaborate closely on clinical and managerial matters with service leads for the day

Programme
- To act as keyworker/ care co-ordinator for day patients, using the psychotherapeutic

models that are used within the Day Programme such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy,
Cognitive Analytical Therapy, and Family Therapy
- To ensure that all day patients have a nursing care plan that is regularly reviewed in

collaboration with the patient
- To act as group facilitator/co-facilitator as required, including supervision of meals in dining

room, as well as inpatient and day patient groups
- To take a lead nursing role in day patient and team review meetings
- To ensure that planning of care occurs within the framework of CPA, that relevant local and

national guidelines are adhered to
- To work with patients during their transition to, or discharge from day care
- To liaise and work with the families and/or carers of patients. To provide individualised

family work in conjunction with the family therapist
- To develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with service users and their

families/carers
- To liaise with the young person’s professional network, keeping them informed of

developments, changes in risk status and promoting multi agency collaboration. Liaison
with Children’s Specialist Services, Educational services, independent sector mental health
providers, counsellors and any other professionals
- To provide supervision, and conduct appraisals as appropriate
- To meet regularly with own manager for professional and managerial supervision
- To undertake risk assessment and risk management of individual patients and their families
