Multi Trades Recruitment are seeking a skilled Handyman to join our Technical Services team at the University of Sheffield. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and minor upgrades of the internal and external building fabric of our student accommodation sites.

Your work will contribute to providing a safe and comfortable living environment for over 4500 students residing in Endcliffe and Ranmoor accommodation. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will work collaboratively with a team to ensure prompt response and resolution to maintenance issues while complying with Service Level Agreements.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Perform maintenance, repairs, testing, and inspection of building mechanical and electrical services, systems, plant, and equipment in compliance with statutory standards and operational procedures.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating and maintaining major plant and systems, including boilers, heating and water services, ventilation, electrical distribution, fire alarm and access systems, lift equipment, and pressure systems.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and ensure appropriate documentation is maintained.
- Assist with minor upgrading and adaptation works, collaborating with university partners and colleagues to deliver customer-focused service.
- Support the management and control of contractors.
- Utilize a PDA to track and close out jobs within specified rectification timeframes, ensuring accurate data capture.
- Manage a busy workload while maintaining a high level of service execution.
- Conduct and maintain risk assessments for all tasks, adhering to EQUANS Safe Systems of Work.
- Adhere to business-specific safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) obligations and procedures.
- Maintain a safe and tidy working area, following health and safety guidelines.
- Safely operate access equipment, hand tools, and power tools according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Embrace and adopt EQUANS Health & Safety procedures and guidelines, adhering to the 10 H&S rules.
- Participate in the Standby Operatives' on-call rota.
- Provide support to the wider maintenance team with ad-hoc reactive and planned preventive maintenance works.
- Ensure the effective maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment required for the role.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Full driving licence.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Previous experience working in a maintenance environment.
- Recognised Apprenticeship in a relevant craft discipline to City and Guilds level.
- Legionella Awareness training.
- Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
