**Responsibilities**:
As our** Lead Functional Skills Tutor**, you'll advance a dynamic team dedicated to equipping learners with the essential skills for success in today's fast-paced world. NHBC is leading on a number of training and development initiatives, such as Apprenticeship and Graduate programs where your teaching methods and proven leadership skills, will guide our learners in successfully attaining functional skills in Maths and English working within the Training and Quality Team. From designing engaging lesson plans to providing personalised support, you'll be at the forefront of educational excellence.

**What you’ll be doing**
- Whilst reporting to the Senior Manager, they will develop functional skills delivery with regard to embedding English & maths into all apprenticeship planned delivery
- Enhance the delivery sessions to ensure functional skills is identified, consolidated and proof of delivery has occurred.
- Develop and maintain learning resources used across the delivery.
- Update delivery schedules for adoption by the wider team
- Plan adequate functional skills delivery with the wider team
- Co-ordinate functional skills exam sessions and invigilation cover
- Plan routine CPD for themselves and wider team
- Report on key metrics/KPIs for Governance reports.
- Sample (observations/remote) effectiveness of functional skills delivery
- Delivery of functional skills
- Liaise with Awarding Organisations such as Pearson/City & Guilds etc.
- Maintain and improve functional skills trackers
- Co-ordinate intervention measures to maintain progress against functional skills outcomes
- Comfortable with remote working as well as face to face across multiple locations
- Demonstrable experience of leading a functional skills curriculum with excellent coaching and support skills
- Able to convey and explain the provision to external bodies, such as; ESFA, Ofsted, Pearson, City & Guilds etc.
- Act as an internal verifier for speaking & listening assessments.
- Detail orientated, report accurately, succinctly and action accordingly to enhance provision.
- Analysing provision proactively for the mid-term in line with growth plans.
- Able to work independently in a dedicated home office without distraction.
- Able to negotiate necessary changes to the wider team to ensure quality efficient provision.
- Strong coaching skills, experienced with mentoring staff to meet development goals (delivery staff & functional skills tutors).
- Adopt and embed, ‘Quality teaching first’ approach to the wider team, clear demonstrable ability to facilitate invigilation of exams across the wider team.

Qualifications:
**Education and Qualifications**

Qualified to Degree level or Diploma level equivalent, with relevant teaching experience.

GCSE or equivalent at Grade 5/B, or above in English & Maths.

Level 3 teaching or training qualification e.g., AET or above.
