**Job Specification - Cost Estimator**
My client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced **Cost Estimator** to join their team on a permanent basis.
Responsible for the management of the construction phase on a number of smaller projects with a value up to £5.0m. As well as new build projects up to a value of £20m
Our client is involved mainly with the refurbishment of commercial properties and to develop them into state-of-the-art apartments, offices, or student accommodation.
The client also has a number of ‘new build’ schemes in the pipeline.
- analysing plans, bills of quantities and other project documentation in order to estimate costs
- researching, sourcing, negotiating, and obtaining the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
- Consulting with industry experts to discuss cost estimates. Identifying and quantifying all cost factors involved in the project. Using computer software to calculate cost estimates.
- analysing data that can affect costs (such as currency exchange rates and the company’s productivity rates)
- assessing the financial, technical, and operational risks of the project
- visiting project sites to gather information
- staying aware of the latest construction technologies
- keeping up to date with the latest regulatory and legislative requirements
- inputting into decisions over whether to bid for the project
- working closely with key members of the project team (such as the bid manager) and liaising with clients and suppliers
- keeping detailed records and writing reports.
**Qualifications**
Our brief requirements are:
- Minimum of 5+ years experience in construction management roles on refurbishment & new-build projects.
- Technical diploma or degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
- Able to use Word, Excel software
- CSCS Card
- Some Quantity Surveyor duties may be necessary for this role
WHAT SALARY PACKAGE YOU WILL BE RECEIVING
Salary is negotiable with experience
