We’re now looking for a Technologist to join the East team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Technologist looking for a new challenge, passionate about fashion, delivering great product to the customer and seeking an opportunity to learn as a small and growing brand with sustainable and ethical production at the forefront.
**What will you do as a Garment Technologist?**
- Leading fit session from initial design stage through to pre-production fitting alongside the buyer, design and creative director, taking responsibility for each style
- Use knowledge of supplier’s technical capability and factories to drive product improvements.
- Ensure adherence to the required sealing process from initial prototype to production sign off (including critical path adherence and management).
- Work with design/buying teams during product development to get as many samples ‘right first time’ as possible. Review WOW to support this.
- Collaborate with design team to interpret technical issues and possibilities in design
- Ensuring clear fit comments and measurements are communicated to factories in a timely manner considering design aesthetic, factory capability and fabric end use
- To ensure supplier base submit measurement specs prior to fitting
- Ensure all grading rules are followed and sizing is consistent across the collection
- Measure all samples to ensure measurements are to spec
- Maintain golden rules and minimum make standards to ensure East quality standard is adhered to
- Ensure test reports and fabric certifications are submitted on time, ensuring washcare is approver per garment
- Maintaining all approval records
- Ensuring approval records are maintained, and samples are kept in order
- Maintain detailed records of technical specifications, patterns, and quality control reports, ensuring accurate and organised documentation.
**What you will need to succeed as a Garment Technologist?**
- 2-5 years experience within womenswear garment tech
- Experience across categories leading fittings and recording & sending fit comments
- Understanding of pattern cutting, good knowledge of fabrics, technical components and sewing techniques
- Experience fitting wovens and jersey (dresses, tops, bottoms and jackets)
- An understanding of complex garment construction, print and embellishment
- Maintaining good relationships and communication with our supply base
- Tenacious, assertive and determined attitude with excellent attention to detail
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills. Unique opportunity working for a small brand with start-up mentality and support of an established Brand group.
- Demonstrates extensive knowledge of production
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure they understand and adhere to technical specifications in a timely manner
- Able to work in a busy fast paced environment, attention to detail is key
