**Purpose of the Role**:
Supporting the Machine Shop Team Leader(s) and working as part of the department you will be assisting our skilled team of machinists in the delivery of our output targets, and the proactive, robust resolution of critical corrective action. With Guidance from the Team Leader(s), you will use your technical knowledge to unlock barriers, inspire best practice and continuous improvement across the patch. In the absence of the Machine Shop Team Leader, you will support our team of machinists as Acting Team Leader. McLaren has a formidable history - come and be part of our future success

**Role Dimensions**:
Reporting to the Team Leader(s), it is your responsibility to support the delivery of components on time and in full whilst driving best practice and continuous improvement to meet the overarching strategic vision for the department. The role demands a well-balanced approach of technical know-how with exceptional people skills.

**Principal Accountabilities**:

- Support the Machine Shop Team Leader(s), Manager and Technical Support Engineer to deliver the schedule on time and in full, maintaining energy and momentum throughout the shift
- Use your expertise to focus on efficiency and / or reliability tasks that have a positive impact on our performance and assist in the delivery of the strategic vision for the department
- Support our Team Leader(s), and Manager in addressing areas of non-conformance by proactively working to root cause with Quality Engineering support to successful resolution and seal processes as necessary
- Liaise with Production Engineering, the Technical Support Engineer and Planning with the support of the Team Leader(s) to ensure challenges are dealt with quickly and efficiently
- Engage and support in the creation and delivery of the department continuous improvement activities
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards within the workplace
- Support our Team Leader(s) to encourage team working across the shift and shift patterns
- Support the increase of functional expertise in all areas by assisting the Team Leader(s) and Manager in utilising the training and versatility plan to develop team members
- Support the Team Leader(s) in ensuring mínimal equipment downtime in your area by effective support of the TPM system

**Knowledge, Skills, and Experience**:

- Preferably educated to NVQ level 3 or 4 (HNC)
- Experienced machinist with excellent people skills
- Experience of motivating team members
- Ability to work autonomously to make decisions and escalate to Team Leader and / or Manager where required
- Knowledge of 3, 4 and 5 axis multi-tasking machining
- Overview of CAM systems relevant to machining area
- Experience with the delivery of quality components to extremely demanding deadlines often with conflicting priorities
- Has supported effective change management to achieve world class manufacturing status
- Has participated in a team-oriented environment
- Has participated in quality concern resolution with tools such as 8D, 5why, fishbone diagrams and other appropriate quality tools
