Commercial Services is growing, and as such we have an exciting new opportunity for a Trainee Surveyor to join our team.

Visiting properties and sites to establish maintenance, repair, remodelling and refurbishment and diagnosis of damp, you’ll learn to price work, estimation of costs and develop schedule of works. You will also receive training to assess Fire Doors and following you will be able to competently carry out inspections to evaluate performance and recommend works required to ensure compliance. You’ll liaise with our trade teams, specialist contractors and suppliers to manage projects to maximise customer satisfaction and service excellence. As your training progresses, you will be involved in tendering and winning new work and managing relationships with key clients.

The Trainee Surveyor will be pivotal to ensuring Commercial Services deliver a seamless, proactive, high-quality service to clients and residents and support our team of Supervisors & Operatives. As a member of the commercial team working collaboratively with clients, contractors’ suppliers, and colleagues to build and embed resilient and robust relationships to support successful project delivery and client satisfaction.

This position is well suited to someone with knowledge of building construction and related trades, who when provided with specialist guidance will become a valuable colleague of a growing team.

**Key Responsibilities:

- Visiting different sites within the Borough of Hounslow, undertaking general works and damp inspections surveys accompanied and unaccompanied.
- Keeping up to date with relevant legislation relating to asbestos best practice and health and safety
- Assisting with the progression of projects from initial client discussion through to projection including briefing, discussions and support on developments, proposals, and approval
- Following training visit properties to inspect and assess Fire Doors, ascertain remedial works or request replacement.
- Preparing and write up progress and damp reports, backed up with photographic and testing evidence
- Leading and managing less complex projects such as remedial works in damp & mould cases, with the support of senior team members
- Recording and maintaining accurate records on the relevant data system
- To liaise with residents, colleagues, external contractors, and suppliers for Commercial Services to ensure the delivery of all projects are delivered to the required targets
- Provide co-ordination and monitoring of projects and other relevant administration; sourcing service providers, contractors, and suppliers; supporting the estimator and Commercial Works Manager in obtaining quotes; and dealing with any challenges that may arise
- Ensure RAMS & CPP are correct, recorded and saved to the relevant systems and review handover packs following project completion and upload to appropriate system
- Handle calls and provide an efficient and flexible response to operational issues, ensuring high levels of service delivery
- Contribute to month end procedures including financial completions and programmed works
- Demonstrate great communication skills and be able to liaise with client, supplier, and the internal teams. Experienced in Word and Excel and be able to update internal systems daily
- Actively make suggestions for continuous improvement and new innovations to ensure that all areas of Commercial Services are operating as efficiently as possible
